If you’ve also had a birthday in lockdown, happy belated birthday! I hope yours was enjoyable too. Personally, I was up for cancelling my birthday and just staying 21 at least until lockdown is over (I feel like I finally understand why adults lying about their age choose 21 as their age), but I actually ended up having one of the best birthdays I’ve ever had.
22 is a bit of a meh age I feel, and I don’t feel 22 because I’m back in first year of uni, technically. Basically ever since I left uni the first time (after my first year which I completed in 2017) I have no clue how old I actually am, and still feel about 19.
Anyway, before lockdown happened, my birthday plans were to have a night out with some uni friends here the week before my birthday because my birthday was smack bang in the middle of the Easter holidays. Then I was planning on going home for a week to celebrate with my family, go out for a family meal and a trip to theatre (I’m actually glad I didn’t go as far as having this booked). My birthday was on the 11th April so when lockdown was announced for 3 weeks on the 23rd March, I knew then my birthday plans weren’t going to be quite what I had in mind.
As you can guess, I never went home and had to settle for spending my birthday locked in our little flat. Luckily, I have the best flatmate ever who made sure I had an amazing day and had so many different things planned for us. (Go and visit her blog here)
She got up at 7am to decorate the lounge/kitchen, prepared a list of activities we could do, and ordered Steph Elswood’s eBooks for me and scheduled an email to send to me so I’d wake up to them in my inbox. I thought I’d share the list here in case anyone need ideas on what to do for their lockdown birthday! Hannah also made me the absolute breakfast of champions, which was the best thing ever.
If you’ve had a birthday in lockdown let me know how you celebrated! And let me know what you’ll be doing to celebrate once this is over too. I’ve been promised a late birthday BBQ at home which I will be holding my family to.
