Today, life is stressful: whether it’s early mornings, workplace dilemmas or late nights, there’s plenty to push us towards burnout. Self-care is more important now than ever. Making time to restore our energy levels and readying ourselves for the challenges ahead is something we need to actively work on. In this post, I’ll cover my 5 best self-care tips for a happier you.
KEEP A ROUTINE
It seems that since COVID-19 our day to day routine has been increasingly pressured. Where possible we need to keep a routine to maintain physical and mental wellbeing.
Start with creating a normal wake and bedtime and keep it consistent. In between these two structured times making time for regular and consistent opportunities for meeting friends, hobbies, relaxing and exercising will keep you on the right track of happiness and healthiness.
GET PLENTY OF EXERCISE
Exercise is an important part of self-care. Staying at home doesn’t have to mean sitting still.
Getting your body moving increases feel-good hormones and gives a physical boost. Easy activities, whether this is indoor or outdoor, can be planned into the working day.
Exercises such as Yoga, for indoors, and short bursts of high-intensity exercise outdoors really sets us up for a great week.
SET YOURSELF GOALS
Give yourself a goal each day. Setting achievable goals gives you a purpose and mini-goals are a great way to give yourself a confidence boost.
Whatever you enjoy doing, whether is blogging, exercising, crafting, for example, set an attainable short term goal and hit it. The mental high five you give yourself hits the spot, every time.
For human beings, having good friendships, relationships and social interconnections play an important role in looking after our wellbeing.
With self-isolation and social-distancing measures in place, we can start to feel the loss of human contact.
Always try to keep in touch with friends and family, face-to-face if possible but if not by video calls and telephone calls.
A simple chat with a friend or family member can help shine happiness into our day.
ALLOW ROOM FOR PAMPERING
Whatever your little luxuries are in life, don’t deprive yourself of them. As the famous saying goes, ‘you’re worth it!’
