When did you start your fitness journey and how did you get into it?
I started my fitness journey after suffering with anorexia and bulimia. I was extremely malnourished and needed to build my body back up to good health. I was also going through a break up. So I found passion in fitness and a muscular physique, rather than a ‘skinny’ figure.
What are your current fitness/training goals?
Current fitness goals are to be physically proud of where I have come from, to feel comfortable in my skin, and to be happy. I want to build strength, as well as visually tone my body.
What’s your favourite way to train?
My favourite way to train is definitely either heavy weights or a HIIT workout. Go hard or go home, am I right!!
What does a typical week look like for you?
I am in my final year at university, so my schedule is pretty hectic. I have uni 3 days a week, and the other days are taken over by uni work. I try to fit the gym in around my schedule, but it isn’t the end of the world if I can’t go one day!
What is your relationship with food like, do you track what you eat?
As I have previously mentioned, I used to have a very unhealthy relationship with food. I ate nothing. I drank no water because I didn’t like the feeling of having anything in my stomach, which is so toxic to your health, mentally and physically. Nowadays, I don’t track calories/macros, but I mindfully eat. If I’m craving something ‘naughty’, then I will listen to my body and have a bit. What is the point of restricting yourself and making your craving worse!?
Do you have any advice for beginners in fitness?
My advice would be not to get hooked on cardio. Lifting weights can burn calories too! I would say be patient and be consistent. That is the key to everything in life!
What do you do when you’re not feeling motivated?
When I am not feeling motivated I take time for myself, I have a healthy meal, I shower and pamper, and I watch a motivational YouTuber, like Sarah’s Day. It’s good to have down time, you need that balance. I also like to make lists and plan to motivate myself!
What is your proudest achievement on your journey so far?
My proudest achievement is being able to go to university. I was told in hospital I couldn’t do a multitude of things, including university, and now I’m 2 months away from graduating with a Sociology degree.
What quote do you live by?
My favourite quotes are: the sky is always blue behind the clouds; you miss 100% of the opportunities you don’t take; the comeback is always bigger than the setback.
What are some of your favourite accounts to follow?
My favourite accounts to follow are motivational quotes, motivational fitness queens (tj_twinfit, meggan grub, Grace Beverley) and fashion accounts (too many to choose from!!!)
