When did you start your fitness journey and how did you get into it?
I’ve always been an active person, I grew up running around the countryside, horse riding, walking and cycling everywhere. I guess my gym journey started about 5 or 6 years I think. I think the first time I went with some of my male friends and was determined to keep up with them so I’ve always aimed to be strong ever since. When it comes to yoga, I started 5 years ago as an aid to my mental health. And I have been poling since April 2019 as my friend dragged me along to her class and I have never looked back.
What are your current fitness/training goals?
My training goals have changed drastically recently, I have my sights set on holding handstands, working on my flexibility and strengthening my core while inverted.
What’s your favourite way to train?
I LOVE a good upper body gym session, but my true love is now training Pole tricks.
What does a typical week look like for you?
Currently I train pole 5 times a week, plus one hour lesson and one flexibility class.
What is your relationship with food like, do you track what you eat?
I have a good relationship with food. I don’t track, I attempted to for a few days as I have no clue how much energy I take in, but that didn’t last.
Do you have any advice for beginners in fitness?
Find a sport/ activity that you ENJOY! It’s so important that you enjoy the exercise you do, whether you pick going to the gym, rock climbing, aerial, yoga, running etc. If you don’t know what you’d like, go and try out different things, you never know what you’ll get hooked on !
What do you do when you’re not feeling motivated?
I have to just show up. If it’s am I’ll have a coffee, or energy drink and get myself hyped up with a motivation playlist. Sometimes the energy isn’t there so I do take it easy, but most of the time I push through until I feel the adrenaline kick in!
What is your proudest achievement on your journey so far?
Unassisted pull ups!!
What quote do you live by?
Keep up the kindness!
