Review: Blue Light Glasses, Are They Worth The Hype?

Disclaimer: This post is NOT sponsored, I bought the glasses with my own money because I genuinely wanted to try them out.

I’ve been meaning to write this post for quite a long time, I actually got these glasses in August, so I’ve had quite a bit of wear out of them since, and thought I’d let you know what my experience has been like and my honest opinion on blue light glasses in general.

I’m not going to lie, I got fully sucked into all those Instagram ads that have been doing the rounds for a while, and more and more people were popping up wearing blue light glasses that I felt the need to try them out for myself. And I’m wearing a pair as I write this post!

Before we get into it, I’d also like to point out that I also did a YouTube video review on these glasses in which I wore the glasses solidly for 7 days to see if there was any immediate differences/benefits etc and documented how I felt throughout the week. If you’d like to watch that, click here (and remember to subscribe to my channel while you’re there).

Like I said, there’s a lot of Instagram ads going around at the moment so it can seem a bit overwhelming with the amount of choice, and I’m sure there are some brands that are more effective than others. I got mine from Fokuss which you can shop here. I can’t comment on the effectiveness of the glasses I got compared to any others because these are the only ones I’ve tried. I chose these ones because they were discounted at the time (I believe they still are at the time of me writing this) but the brand wasn’t suspiciously giving them away for free like I’ve also seen on some ads. They’re also offering free delivery which swayed me. They do also have a 100% money back guarantee, if you contact them within 30 days. Each pair came in their own hard case with a cleaning cloth which I thought was really good.

According to the information on the Fokuss website, buying a pair of their blue light glasses will:

✔ Improve your sleep

✔ Reduce Eye strain

✔ Less headaches & migraines

 Block Harmful Blue Light Rays

In short, anyone who spends a lot of time looking at screens or any kind of electronic device. During lockdown I found myself pretty much glued to my phone or laptop for the majority of the day, whether it be working on my blog or watching YouTube or Netflix, my screen time was definitely a hell of a lot more than it would be usually, and I found myself up a lot later than I would usually as well which had an impact on my sleep schedule, and also I was getting a few more headaches too.

So if that sounds like you, or if you’re working from home on a screen all day, or in an office, or maybe you’re a student studying or a writer on your laptop all day. Whatever it is, if you spend a large portion of the day, or a solid amount of time in the evening, especially if you’re on your device right up until you go to sleep, a pair of blue light glasses could definitely help you out!

  • Eyes felt less tired
  • Fell asleep quicker
  • Less headaches
  • Less eye strain
  • According to my Fitbit, higher quality sleep (less interrupted)

Of course this is just my experience from trying these glasses, and you might have a completely different one. If you’ve tried blue light glasses at all I’d love to hear how you got on in the comments! If you have a pair you love, feel free to let us all know where you got them.
